You can use wireless technologies to extend your network from one place to another, such as an outbuilding, site office or summerhouse. Wireless is often preferable where it's not possible or desirable to run a physical connection.
The main considerations you need to think about are
- Range - How far you need to go,
- Performance - How fast do you need it to be,
- Cost - Your budget
Although Wireless bridges operate over the same frequencies as normal WiFi usually 5Ghz although other ranges such as 60Ghz are available for short hi performance links; It works in a different way specifically fixed clients and and as result allows for much greater range and in some cases performance; than you would get with Normal WiFi.
The same approach is used by Wireless Internet Providers (WISP) with a few but very important differences.
How can ENIAC Help?
There are lots of ways I can help you for example,
- Plan, Install and configure a single or multiple link deployment.
- Provide advice, support and guidance.
- Integrate into a new or existing Unifi Deployment
Get in touch to discuss your project and it's requirements.
Other ways you can expand your network…
Run ethernet or fibre
The simplest networking option, although not always that easy to achieve is to run a physical connection either fibre or copper between the points you want to connect.
This would give you full link speed, over a reliable connection subject to the line length and interference
Mesh access points
A mesh network is where access points connect together to form links that allow data to move between them, this can also be used to extend your reach although it isn't an ideal option.
